Drawing with grass

I joined an atc swap where the challenge is to draw with blades of grass. I thought it was a fun thing to do, so I went to the park yesterday and collected a few blades of grass, some softer some sturdier. Then the idea occurred to me to draw Green Men. I discovered Green Men at the Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland when we visited last year, and found them a fascinating subject. Using simple, unusual tools, helps creativity, I find, takes the pressure off. It's funny how when you draw you enter different worlds. I was really imagining these guys populating my garden.

Postal Art

Atc for the Native American Swap
When I was a teenager I had a friend with whom I would exchange boxes of presents once every few months. There was nothing expensive, just stuff that we made for each other, badges, notebooks, collages, poems, etc. We might also include old magazines, music, books. Everything was individually wrapped, and it would take a few hours to unwrap and treasure everything. I thought I would never feel that excitement again, until I found out about postal art and atcs (artist trading cards). Now I am a new and enthusiastic member of atcsforall.com, my cards travel to different destinations, and I receive precious little works of art and other goodies from many artists from around the world. I am still learning about mail art and checking various sites, like Dragonfly Dream, that list calls for entry. I got myself a PO box to receive all this beautiful art. So, keep it coming!
By the way, I know this is my first blog entry since October, but I'm back on track (almost), with a new website, franvisionsworld, which is finished (almost). And I plan to post regularly again, so stay tuned for more franvisions adventures.
